THE PROJECT THAT INSPIRED OUR FOUNDER

Kingston, Jamaica

One lucky day, I ended up attending community service with a group of awesome girls. While at the home we, out of pure coincidence, we happened to be there the same day an organization, For Jamaica, was there to give beds to that home. We ended up helping and were so inspired that we asked how to join this organization. We were sadly told that they were based in Florida and were sorely disappointed. We however gathered as a group and decided to ask if we could be their base in Jamaica. They were so excited and so were we. We also ended up Journeying to four different homes with this organisation which only inspired me more.

I had a light bulb idea. I thought ” What if there are teenagers like us who would love such opportunities ?”. To volunteer at homes and with organizations but hadn’t the slightest idea of how. I knew that my school instilled community service in our girls but what about the schools that don’t ?.Youth Can Do IT with the help of my facilitator then gave me the platform to formulate what I had thought about for so long. I finally had the chance to create a platform where students can get volunteer opportunities without hassle. This was the beginning of the Outreach Outlet.
